Hvactech Systems Inc. is seeking a Journeyman Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician (HVAC/R) to join our established Mechanical Contracting organization. In this key position, the Journeyman HVAC/R technician reports to the Service Manager and forms part of a team responsible for the management, facilitation, administration, growth, and profitability of the Service Department.
The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with the ability to knowledgably assign and instruct personnel in the proper performance of mechanical operations safely.
To the HVAC/R Technician, we offer: Hourly Wage of $55 per hr.
- Base wage of $50.00 per hr.
- RRSP/TSFA Contribution $4.00 per hour
- Comprehensive Medical / Dental Plan ($1.00 per hr)
- 2 Weeks Paid holidays and vacation after 1st year employment

Principal Responsibilities, Duties & Tasks for the Journeyman HVAC/R Technician include:
- Installation and repair of Commercial HVAC Equipment
- Determining project requirements according to blueprint, drawing and written or verbal instructions
- Transportation of materials and equipment
- Ensure on-call capabilities in a weekly rotation with other service technicians.
- Respond to HVAC Service Department Service calls and preventive maintenance including scheduling, parts purchasing, reporting and customer interactions.
- Effective critical thinking, problem solving and proficiency in mathematics/clear communication skills.
- Maintaining a high standard of customer service and relations as a member of our team
- Additional duties as assigned.
The HVAC/R Service Department provides services to facilities consisting of, but not limited to: Preventive maintenance and repair or replacement of HVAC/R equipment, pneumatic controls, DDC controls, electrical controls, boilers and boiler controls, burners, pumps, heat pump, VRF, refrigeration, air conditioning, exhaust systems, piping repairs and installation, and sheet metal repairs and installation.
Requirements for the Position
- Journey Level HVAC/R with Interprovincial Ticket (Red Seal)
- Adequate knowledge of work processes and requirements for both physical labor and shop equipment
- Valid Driver’s License
- Capable of passing security clearances
- High organizational ability and systematic timing
Beneficial additional Licenses/Certifications include Relevant Interprovincial Tickets in Plumbing, Gas A and/or B tickets, Electrical, Oil Burner, Controls and Sheet Metal.
Fall Arrest, First Aid, Confined Spaces and Arial Lift
Successful candidate(s) must be enthusiastic and physically fit. Work will include heavy lifting, handling/moving large objects, balancing, and climbing.
